Getting a good night’s sleep at the Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas, Trat

I stayed at the Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas, Trat back in December of 2013. We were on a media junket and had just spent the day visiting the riverside city of Chanthaburi. We arrived at the hotel close to sunset, and left early the next morning, so I can’t say I got to really “experience” the place, but I did take a few good pics. I stayed in a really large room — separate bedroom and living room — and although this is not one of Centara’s truly 4-star properties, it’s got everything you need when it comes to comfort and proximity to the beach. Chanthaburi ~ Charming Riverside Town

heroIf you’re looking for “quaint”, then the town of Chanthaburi — in the east of Thailand, near the Cambodian border — is for you. The town sits along the banks of the Chanthaburi River, and is the capital of the Chanthaburi Province. When we visited back in December of 2104 (courtesy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the first stop we made was the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It’s a standout landmark not only because it’s quite beautiful but also because you just don’t see that many Catholic churches in rural Thailand.  Continue reading
